Ex-musicians of Smokie pose as real Smokie
Do you remember rock band Smokie from the UK? We'll tell you a scandalous story about them.
They sang What can I do, Going Home, It's Your Life ... in the 70's. They were the winners of the Ror Foto's readers opinion poll as the best group, earned the title of the best singer, guitarist, bassist, composer, the first single and first album. During their tour to Europe cities all concert halls were overcrowded, the crowds of fans greeted them at the airports, the album Bright Lights And Back Alleys (1977) sold over 400,000 copies in two weeks.
They still give concerts. Although the main vocalist Chris Norman left the band in 1986 and only Terry Uttley is the last musician of the original members of the band.

However, the former members of the group, not succeeding in their own careers, decided to earn on past glory. They go on tour as a group Smokie - a lot of people believe them!
Recently, Smokie gave a concert in the Ukrainian city Donetsk. That "Smokie" consisted of unknown musicians and Alan Silson. You can tell that In 1996, Silson terminated his membership, saying he intended to pursue a solo career and to work with other acts as well, joining Mickey Finn's T. Rex ; he also no longer wanted to be on the road all the time. Alan Silson is not a musician of Smokie!
So, Alan Silson acts under the name of Smokie! He misleads fans!

When Silson was asked to sing a well-known hit «What can I do», he said that he knows what the name of this song in Russian pronunciation looks like (in Russian it sounds like "I shall find Vodka").
Pseudo-Smokie Silson did not want to leave the dressing room after the concert, - he was offended becouse he was not allowed to sing 2 more songs, because the time of concert was out. But finally he went out to the most loyal fans and let them to make some photos.
The real Smokie - Terry Uttley, Mike Craft, Mick McConnell, Steve Pinnell, Martin Bullard - Don't you want some vodka after such news?
